2 April 2021 Ride

Several requests for a ride on Good Friday so there will be one starting from Darnum departing at 8:30am. Unless there are other ideas suggest we ride our Saturday course in reverse. Great autumn weather so let’s take advantage of this.

It will be mostly sunny with light winds. Overnight temperatures falling to between 10 and 13 with daytime temperatures reaching 24 to 29.

Changing weather however our start venue is the carpark at the rear of the Shops in Yarragon and are to depart at 8am. Some us however will be riding from Warragul (departing at 7am) to join the Yarragon bunch for our ride to Westbury and back to Yarragon for coffee. For those of of us who have started from Warragul it will be a short break before riding back to Warragul.

There will be a couple of participants from the Lions Ride for Sight event who will be joining us on our ride so please make them welcomed.

20 March 2021 Ride

Strong easterlies over the last couple of day and looks lit it will continue tomorrow. The upside is it will be dry with mild weather. Start from Darnum at 8am. Please have your batteries charged and light on.

Partly cloudy with patchy fog in the east in the early morning. Areas of smoke haze, particularly about the ranges in the morning and early afternoon. Medium (50%) chance of showers about the ranges, slight (30%) chance elsewhere. Winds easterly 25 to 40 km/h. Overnight temperatures falling to between 11 and 15 with daytime temperatures reaching between 18 and 24.

There is a one occasion film screening at the Warragul Cinema at 7pm this Tuesday 23 March 2021.

An amateur racer turned global broadcaster, Phil Liggett has covered forty-eight Tours de France and fifteen Olympic Games, calling every triumph, tragedy and scandal with his inimitable wit and ‘Liggetism’ style of poetry.

Created by the filmmakers behind MAMIL (Middle Aged Men In Lycra), the 110-minute feature documentary tracks Phil Liggett’s life story and offers an insight into his dedication to his much-loved sport of cycling and passion for wildlife conservation.

“Apart from the fame and adulation of his many followers, this is a humble, dedicated man, passionate about so many issues. He is a great raconteur, with a dry wit. Phil gives of his time unstintingly and his interests range far more widely than the cycling enthusiast might know.”

Phil Liggett MBE is 77 and says he has witnessed every heroic triumph and harrowing tragedy over his 53-year career.

The documentary was filmed over the last 18 months across three continents synonymous with Phil’s life, starting at his homes in South Africa and the UK, over to the Tour de France and finishing in Australia with filming in Melbourne and Adelaide.

Must take advantage of tomorrow’s mild mild weather before the predicted rain and strong winds sets in the afternoon. 8am start from Darnum.

6 March 2021 Ride

It’s the beginning of autumn and also the Moomba long weekend. The start of has been rather cold and windy but tomorrow promises to be much better for a more pleasant ride with forecast milder weather.

Darnum it is setting off at 8:00am. See you there.

27 February Ride – Yarragon

Last Saturday of the month so as we have been doing for a while we will start from Yarragon at 8am.

There will be a group who will be riding from Warragul at 7am from the clocktower to meet in Yarragon for our Westbury circuit ride. Coffee in Yarragon before returning to Warragul – rough a 100km stint.

There is a chance of fog in the early morning. Partly cloudy day. Light winds becoming northeast to southeasterly 15 to 20 km/h in the middle of the day then becoming light in the evening. Overnight temperatures falling to between 7 and 11 with daytime temperatures reaching the low to mid 20s.

20 February 2021 Ride

Lockdown is over (again) and the weather is forecast to be very mild to warm tomorrow morning. Im sure you are all itching to get back to our normal riding routing. its Darnum leaving at 8am.

It will be humid and mostly sunny morning. The chance of a shower or thunderstorm about the ranges in the afternoon. Winds northwest to northeasterly 15 to 20 km/h tending east to southeasterly in the middle of the day then becoming light in the evening. Overnight temperatures falling to between 14 and 18 with daytime temperatures reaching 28 to 35.

13 February 2021 Ride – suspension

After weeks of no community transmission the more virulent B117 virus has forced the lockdown in an effort to arrest the spread. Heavy handed. May be but it would be worst for all if this virus spreads to the wider community. Five km travel distance restriction, so our ride will have to curtailed as almost all of us live more than five km from Darnum. Hopefully this restriction won’t be for too long.  As frustrating as it may be we will just have to wait and see.

More frustratingly the forecast is for a reasonable wether tomorrow. Predicted to be cloudy with medium (60%) chance of showers, most likely in the morning and early afternoon. Winds westerly 15 to 20 km/h turning south to southwesterly during the morning and early afternoon then becoming light in the late evening. 6 February 2021 Ride

Mild but humid with a slight chance of light rain tomorrow. Hope fully it will be fine. However come prepared for all weather  eventualities. Yes, Darnum it is leaving at 8am.

30 January 2021 Ride – Yarragon

Yes, it’s the last Saturday of January so we will start at 8am from Yarragon. The weather looks like it will be wet so it would be best for our longer and earlier start from Warragul is cancelled. this does not mean you may want to ride from Warragul. Come prepared for a wet or damp ride.
